Description Displayed here is the third state of the "Carte des Pays...de Canada," published by Jean Baptiste Fortin who had acquired the stock of the Vaugondy firm. This map is one of the first to recognize the name of the newly formed United States, "Etats Unis," as seen by the inclusion of the phrase in the title cartouche. The map is closely related to J.B. Eliot's "Carte du Theatre de la Guerre Actuel Entre les Anglais et les Treize Colonies Unies de l'Amerique Septentrionale ..." Eliot also uses...
