Scope and Contents
A.L.S. Anna writes of the death of an enslaved woman named Harry: “she died on Monday last, after a short illness, inflammation of the brain and womb… Dr. Alexander and Straith examined her body and found the womb and other organs around it entirely diseased. Mother has lost a kind and faithful servant, a sincere tho humble friend. We shall all feel her loss, to mother it is irreparable, she has no servant who can take her place.”
