Scope and Contents

A.L.S. Massachusetts. Reports an agreeable and prosperous tour in the West. Spoke at inauguration of the Washington University, at St. Louis, twice before Library Association, and once for MVLA. Spoke in Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington, Maysville, Buffalo, Utica, and Troy. Explains funds resulting only $8000 received to date which he will invest. Fatigue forced him to end speaking for season - spent one week with daughter, Mrs. H.A. Wise, in Washington. Also photostat of brief note on the letter in Everett's hand (letter book notation?)
