Scope and Contents
A.L. Incomplete and clipped. Chicago. Have money to restore West Parlor. Emmert and Quartley to do work. Ceiling to be removed, new plastering to replace stucco, lost pieces restored, paint scraped off wainscoting, original color reproduced. Arms over mantel to be painted in heraldic colors, also crest and monogram in fireplace, old cornices renewed. Will keep to original when it can be discovered. Facsimile of furniture in Hamilton family in New York which Mount Vernon can copy. Had painting over mantel restored last summer by German artist. Has written another Appeal to send newspapers of state. ER-17, p. 254
