Scope and Contents
Engraved Society of the Cincinnati certificate for James William, Esquire of Virginia. As president of the Society, George Washington signs the document at Mount Vernon on March 1, 1787. The document is also signed by secretary Henry Knox. Certicate is mounted to a board and has some staining and a tear.

Contains the address of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of South-Carolina to George Washington and his reply, page 1, column 2. Also contains the address of the Roman Catholics to the President and George Washington's reply, page 3, columns 1-2.
